claude-mem
by thedotmack
Claude-mem records what an AI coding assistant does during a session, summarises it with AI, and feeds the relevant parts back into later sessions. It is for people who want their coding agent to remember project decisions and history instead of starting from scratch each time.

What you can do with it
- Keep a coding agent aware of earlier decisions, bug fixes and project history across sessions
- Search past session memories using the built-in search tools
- Use one memory setup across several agents, such as Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex and Gemini
Make money with it
A freelancer could deliver software projects faster with an agent that remembers earlier work, and so take on more client jobs.
An idea, not financial advice. Check the licence before charging for anything built on it.
Ways a business could use it
- A freelance developer can cut time spent re-explaining a client project to the AI agent at the start of each session.
- A small team building a product can keep a shared record of decisions and bug fixes, so less time is lost on repeated work.
Can you use it commercially?
Free to use, change and sell, including in paid products. Keep the copyright notice.
Not legal advice. Read the project's licence file before building a product on it.
Getting it running
Install with a single command, "npx claude-mem install", with extra flags such as "--ide opencode" for other agents.
Follow the official instructions in the project README.
Things to check
- The default setup asks you to sign in to a hosted claude-mem account, with a 30-day free trial and a paid plan afterwards
- Memory processing can need an AI provider, such as your Anthropic plan or an OpenRouter or Gemini key, which may cost money
- Session activity is captured and summarised, so check what is stored and where before using it on sensitive code
